Moose (Alces alces)
The moose symbolises Sweden as no other animal can. Nowhere else in the world is there such a concentration of moose in the forests. Approximately 100,000 are shot annually. The most common form of hunting is with hunting dogs. The hunting season begins the first Monday in September and continues until 25 September. There is then a two-week break, after which the hunt continues until all quotas are filled or deep snow puts a stop to the hunt. Many outfitters organise moose hunting during September and October and there's always a chance to run into a real trophy bull.

To register a trophy moose on this website, it must be at least a bronze medal size (according to CIC).
